The mission of the Active Lifestyles Program is to enrich the environment of the mature adult community with programs that will heighten the participant's quality of life.
With a mission to create, implement, and evaluate programs that fulfill the recreational, educational, physical, and social needs of adults, the Active Lifestyles Program offers classes, special events, trips, lecture series, and daily activities at six senior / community centers located throughout Newport News.
The Active Lifestyles Newsletter (this publication is currently paused due to COVID-19 changes in operations, please see our Weekly Newsletter for current information) is printed quarterly as an informational guide to current issues in the health field and helpful hints on keeping and improving mental and physical well-being, as well as listing services, classes, and events scheduled for the senior centers. While a number of programs and classes require an instructional fee, each center offers some form of daily activities free of charge.
Inclement Weather Policy All Active Lifestyles programs, classes, and senior centers will be closed when City offices are closed or delayed.
