Lights at the Fountain, a BayPort Credit Union NlightN event, is taking place nightly at City Center at Oyster Point from December 7 through December 31, along with two special Fountainside Festivals on December 7 and 14, and musical performances at Wednesdays at the Gazebo on December 4, 11, and 18.

Lights at the Fountain is a state-of-the-art nightly holiday light show experience from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. that will transform City Center into a sparkling winter wonderland with holiday lights, decorations, and a twice each hour light show with falling snow set to festive music. The new 10-minute animated light show that celebrates holiday traditions around the world includes: the Larry King Law Holiday Show Tree, a 42′ intelligent, color/pattern changing tree, synched with over 50 lighted trees, custom holiday soundtrack and snow machines all around the fountain.

Both evenings of the Fountainside Festivals, December 7 and 14, will include holiday entertainment, food vendors, a holiday market, and special holiday experiences from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The December 7 Fountainside Festival will include a ceremony with City officials at 6:45 p.m. to light the Larry King Law Holiday Show Tree and premiere the new 2019 light show.

The USO Show Troupe will perform on both nights at the Fountainside Festivals (5:00 p.m., 5:40 p.m., and 6:20 p.m.) on the main stage in front of the tree. The USO Show Troupe performs hundreds of inspiring, entertaining music shows annually in America and at U.S. military facilities throughout the world and is part of an American tradition that goes back 70 years to its beginnings in the muddy camp shows of the South Pacific. The USO Show Troupe performs a diverse repertoire of morale-boosting musical entertainment for active duty military, their families, veterans and patriotic Americans everywhere. Additional entertainment will include fire performers, Wacky Chad (juggling/comedy), an aerialist, and strolling characters (Peppermint Princess, Jack Frost, Winter Fairy), and performers (Santabones and holiday carolers).

Free Fountainside Festivals  holiday experiences include visiting Santa in his workshop, winter carnival games, make-and-take kids crafts, holiday face painting, Lite Zilla (world’s largest lite peg interactive activity), an outdoor Christmas Karaoke Lounge, and over 25 holiday-inspired Instagrammable moments (photo ops). Free fun-filled trolley rides will be offered to the Holiday Inn Newport News-Hampton (December 7 only) where kids will receive a free gift and can interact with the Grinch, and everyone can enjoy music, storytelling, a holiday movie and beautiful holiday decorations. Free Crowd Synch LED interactive wristbands that synch to the light show will be given out at both Fountainside Festivals  while supplies last.

The Fountainside Festivals  will include a Holiday Market with vendors selling crafts and gift items and food vendors (funnel cakes, spiced nuts, international food, seafood, baked goods, coffee, and hot chocolate). Throughout December, restaurants throughout the City Center area will become “Jingle & Mingle” sites offering special holiday food and drink specials (sites are listed at www.newport-news.org).

On December 4, 11, and 18, Wednesdays at the Gazebo will showcase local choral and instrumental groups performing at the City Center Gazebo from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Admission each night is free and free parking is available in the three City Center parking garages.
